I pulled these off of a 1979 280zx today. I like the style and i'm wondering if anyone can tell me exactly what they may be off of originally. There are no markings i can see and I've looked up as many 280 zed's as I could but none had these wheels. The bolt pattern is compatible and they are 7 inches wide. I do not know their offset, very close to ours if not same. The only problem is the holes are too small for our factory lugs. The lugs that came with the wheels fit but they are different thread size.

Clean them polish em and they may come out ok.
It may be a candidate to powdercoat it gun metal and have the outer part polished..

they were called "turbine wheels" as far as i know.
seems to me, they were fairly popular in the 80s, i saw a lot of magazine cars with them.
probably have to take em to a tire shop and find lugs to fit, shouldnt be too hard.

Auto Zone sells lugs too. That or Cheaker.

Turbines eh, sweet. I'll stop by a tire shop today, I hadn't thought of that, thanks!
Lil'Devil, I think i'll just wire brush 'em for now and throw some new black paint in the red spots. A sand blast and powdercoat may be in the future, we'll see how i feel about them after they're mounted.
Supradrifter, there are no auto Zones in Canada and i've never heard of cheaker. It would be nice to see more ac cobras and corvettes around though :p . But thanks for the suggestion .

Perhaps i should have started this in the 'pictures' forum instead. I'm sorry if i pissed anybody off with this thread. But what a tough wheel to track down, there are so many variations, i had no idea.
The key searchword was definately turbine. thanks again Dogstar.

I just sold a similar set in 15x8.5 and 15x10 with a 3.5 inch back spaceing, GM lug pattern though. Turbine is the style these wheels are classified as, not necesarly the model name and definatly not the manufacturer. Like Dogstar said, they used to be pretty popular. My set had ovalized holes and needed a set of lugs called uni-lugs to use. Not so easy to find anymore and very expensive. But if your holes aren't ovalized, you shouldn't need them. Just go to a parts store with one of the lugs that fits the wheel and ask for 16 of them in your thread pitch.

so do datsun rims fit our car? there are a couple of sets of 15's on ebay right now, so the offset is correct and everything?

Yes Datsun Z Rims do fit lug pattern wise but back spaceing may be the real killer there.

Yep, this wheel looks very familiar. I always thought these wheels were from American Racing???
Anywho, if you look at some of the early early episodes from at least the 1st 2 seasons of the Dukes of Hazard, this is what the General Lee has. Same exact design, but obviously a larger size & width.
Also look at the 83 & 84 Buick Regal Grand Nationals (not the 85+ wheels) & the Regal Turbo T-Type's. Again, same wheels, but different/larger size.
