View Full Version : looking for wheels
parker 06-29-2003, 10:01 PM whats up everyone...my names parker im new on here. i just picked up and 85 p type with 43 k original miles!!! im pretty excited to start modifying a little bit although the car is beautiful as it is. i am looking for some nice rims. new or used if anybody knows of any nice, decent looking rims that wont break the bank i would appreciate it. they dont have to be real big or anything real real flashy but i kinda had some rims that looked a little racey in mind. for example like some black rims or even gun metal. anything cool...hit me up. my emails parker4@comweb.net thanks a lot all!
everybody's got their own definition for "break the bank". how much approxiamately you willing to spend?
what about painting your stock rims black with a silver lip? P-type rims look hot like that.
parker 06-30-2003, 12:57 AM skip: my definition of breaking the bank is spending more than $200 per wheel. even $200 per wheel is very expensive to me especially because im heading to college in august. hope this helps. thanks
Slip: how would i go about doing that? would be as simple as just sanding the rims down and painting them? what would the process be? thanks
Andrew 06-30-2003, 01:10 AM $200!! LOL.. forget it, plan on spending at least double that..
SilverMk2 06-30-2003, 01:26 AM Unfortunately even on newer cars it is hard to find good "quality" wheels under $200. Heck they want $150 for a cheapo 17" Motegi wheels at Pepboys. Your best bet in that price range is to shop for used wheel. Old school Datsun Zcars are the closest fitment wise to MkII. I would recommend keeping an eye out in the For Sale section at the hybridz site. For new wheels about the cheapest place for wheel that fit are going to be Panasports (~250) , Revolution wheels (~$300), Centerlines ($200+). Most custom fits wheels are going to start in the low $400 range and can go up to 1000+ a wheel. About the only wheels you can find that cheap for a MkII are going to be Eagle wheels. They have like 2 or 3 15x7s that should fit. Unfortunately the styles are a little bland to say the least. HTH
i'll assume you know what offsets and bolt pattern to look for. looks like you're gonna have to find a used set of wheels for that budget. go to the "parts for sale" section on this website http://www.club4ag.com i usually find wheels there that fit our cars. goodluck.
i don't understand how anyone woudl want to swap out P-type wheels from their MkII, with the exception of black-with-silver-lip meshies. P-type wheels kick ass.
SupraWes 06-30-2003, 02:01 AM To be able to buy real tires of course!!!!!!! 400+ treadwear Mud N Snow are not for Supras!!!!!
To be able to buy real tires of course!!!!!!! 400+ treadwear Mud N Snow are not for Supras!!!!! pfft. that's what L-types are for.
SupraFiend 06-30-2003, 12:19 PM you need at least a 15x7 to fit a decent performance tire for a mk2. I agree, ptype rims rock, and they look good, they're the perfect rim... for an AE86. But thats just my opinion. :)
Hey Parker, theres a thread around about some 19 & 18 inch rims in Ontario going for below 200 bucks a wheel. Tires will break the bank with them though and fitment on the front might take a bit of work. Also I thought the centerlines were about 170 US each before shipping?
SupraWes 06-30-2003, 12:28 PM The centerlines are about 180 each for 16 inch or 160 for 15 inch. You do need to buy longer studs for these.
parker 06-30-2003, 05:29 PM i was lookin at some konig helium rims that look pretty nice. black finish...15 x 6.5...99 a peice. they're pretty nice lookin...what kind of specs do i need to look for to fit my car? thanks
dogstar 06-30-2003, 06:00 PM its all in the FAQ on the celicasupra.com site
http://www.celicasupra.com/wheels.htm
theyre low offset 4x114.3 wheels... best of luck to all of us in finding replacements.
SupraFiend 06-30-2003, 06:02 PM a 6.5 is a little on the skinny side, unless your just going for a stock performance straight replacment wheel for an ltype rim.
dogstar 07-01-2003, 06:45 AM last i checked the heliums were only in a 4x100 fitment anyways
i am looking at the koenig "rewind"
kind of a panasport look to them, just got to figure out fitting and price.
mr drift king 07-01-2003, 09:11 AM what do panasports look like exactly?
i want lenso concept 9's
parker 07-01-2003, 10:12 AM what do the rewinds look like? i like the look of the heliums but if they only have a 4x100 then oh well. im lookin for some rims with a black finish...any ideas?
dogstar 07-01-2003, 02:32 PM panasports: http://www.kspeed.com/id3.htm
rewinds: http://www.konigwheels.com/catalog_subcategory.cfm?CategoryID=1&SubcategoryID=25
rewinds list out at a 0 offset, so maybe a bit low, and theyre cheap, but the only problem is size... theyre 14x7, so you dont even get a size upgrade :( :( :(
and my mistake, heliums do come in a 4x114.3, but it doesnt matter, since theyre 40mm offset... :?
mr drift king 07-02-2003, 07:56 AM any pics of panasports on MK2's?
