if i have 16x8 +11offset on all 4 wheels using fronts(225/55/16) and rears(245/50/16), what sized spacer should i put in the rear to make the wheel sit more flush with the fender without rubbing issues? Also, with the different profile 55 vs 50 how will this affect the handling or ride?

Just run 245/45/16 all around. That way you can have a stock diameter tire and still rotate them. About the biggest spacer you can safely run on a Mk2 is about a 10mm spacer with the Toyota truck studs. You could probably run a 30-35 or so adapter without rubbing in back though.

the thing is that the sizes i posted are coming with the rims.10mm spacer, so i will be +1 offset, will this clear the caliper? i did some searches on 16x8 and i think it was the cxn does not clear the calipers at +10offset

The center of the wheel is what determine the caliper face clearance, not the offset. The CXNs fit fine with the brakes, several people here have them.

i guess i have to try to put it on then

Definitely, go with zero offset for the rears. I ordered +5mm offset on the second set and had clearance problems (rear calipers) with the '85...but they did fit on the '84 (damned if I know why). Zero offset works for everybody....+10mm will not clear the calipers!!

I have just done this with 8" rims and a 0 offset. The largest adaptor i could fit was 20mm and i had to do some arch work to stop it rubbing. I would say with +11 offset 25mm adaptor would clear but anything bigger and you will need a grinder to roll the inside of the arch.

This will clear just fine, as long as you use the spacers. But yes, a +10mm offset, you will have clearance problems.

Bob Sully's problem is unique & rather oddball. His +5mm CXN's won't fit properly on 1 car, but they fit fine on the other car. So his is not a great example to use.

A +1mm final offset will be fine, there should not be any clearance problems.

How much wear is on these tires??? Brand new, or fairly used??? If worn, then obviously replace them. If new can you resell all 4 to whom-ever & replace w/ a correct set of 245/45's??? The nice thing about the 245/45's is that you will also have a accurate speedo reading, like if you're on 225/60/14's on the stock wheels.

Pirelli P7000 80%left so i would say fairly new?
Not sure what the value of these tires when they were new

if i were to get new tires i'd probably get 50 series because its less expensive

225/55 and 245/50 has the same diameter?

Depends on the manufacturer but usually a differnce like that will have the same diameter or close enough as not to matter on a 2wd vehicle a 4wd you really want to be exact on the diameter so as not to stress the other drive train components with differnt wheel speeds.

185/70r 14 will have roughly the same diameter as a 205/50r16 or a 205/45r17 like you see on so many hondas out there its called plus sizing by the tire dealers.

Yeah, but +5mm offset CXNs didn't clear the rear calipers on my '85 (though they did fit on the '84). If he uses the 10mm spacers, he should be fine.

What hits Bob? The wheel center or the hardware? Pretty much all manufactures use the same wheel centers to make their wheels. The only thing I can think they did when they made yours was to mill the back of the mounting face off to get that offset. That would change the relationship between the hub face and spokes.

225/55 and 245/50 has the same diameter?

By using this Tire Size Calculator

http://www.miata.net/garage/tirecalc.html

results in 0.10 inch difference.... can you tell in real? :facesjump
