I'm going to look at some wheels, and the seller dosnt know the offset of the rims. So I was just wondering what the most accurate way of measuring offset it.

I was thinking off laying 2x4 across the back off the wheel and then measuring from the mounting pad of the wheel to the bottom of the 2x4. Now I think that might be backspacing though.

Any suggestions on how to do this?

how about a tape measure?

seriosuly though, it's not that difficult. if you know overall width and backspacing you can calculate offset, and vice versa. jsut takea tape measure and measure from the back of the hub out... jsut eye it up and see how much backspacing there is. Take the backspacing and wheel width and you can figure out the offset.

for example, your 16x7's have a 3.5 inch backspacing, ie. right in the middle of the wheel width = 0 offset.

remember though, wheels are not as wide as they appear to be, if you actually measure a stock P-type wheel you'll see that it's 8 inches wide. take an inch off to account for the wheel hub thingy.

what are you up to now good sir?

Thank your dad again for me... i would've been really, really, REALLY screwed without him.

Measure the whole width and measure the backspace. Cut the width in half and subtract it from the back space and you should have the offset.
