View Full Version : need help with RACE WHEELS
oldschool85 01-18-2007, 11:56 PM I would like to know what offset or backspacing is needed for a 15x10 wheel in the back.
Also what is the max amount of tread we can use back there? The rear of my supra is jacked up and not lowered.

(NA)turalyRWD 01-19-2007, 05:12 PM Most 15x10 rims are in the right offset range. From what i've gathered its in the +- 10mm range. As for rubber i have no clue!

williamb82 01-19-2007, 07:28 PM get 15x9 with a 5in backspace and some 26x10.5x15 slicks
Chrisfrom1986 01-19-2007, 10:02 PM So Im guessing that those 15x10 from Eagle Alloy with a -40 offset wont fit at all?
Atl_Racer 01-20-2007, 12:45 AM I am running 15X9 -13 offset in the rear. the lip is flush with the fender flare. i was running 245/50/15. the tire didn't scrape when going over bumps but looked too big so i took them off and swaped in some 225/50/15. i still have the 245/50/15 dunlop SP8000. for sale
$200 plus shipping. used only for a week.
thanks,
tommy
Supradad 01-20-2007, 01:28 AM Don't you wish your Supra was hot like me?

williamb82 01-20-2007, 03:13 AM any other pics supradad? also, a 10in wide rim wit ha wide tire wont ft. you "might" get a 10in wide in there, but don go wider then a 275 tire or itll rub the inside of the body. i know, i did some measuring and cheicking. i wanted 17x10's with 315/35/17 nitto drag radials out back. looks like im stuck wit hthe 275's since they dont have any dr's in between.

oldschool85 01-20-2007, 11:46 AM william with a 5inch backspacing what does that equate to in offset terms?
So then 275 is the widest we could go back there then huh?
Charlie
williamb82 01-20-2007, 04:09 PM for a 9in wheel thats a 0 offset with 5in backspacing. for a 10in wheel, thats a -12 offset roughly with 5in backspacing
cheappower82 01-20-2007, 09:09 PM What type of racing? For straight-line, weld draglites are REAL light (12 lbs. ?) and have a few offsets to choose from. An 8" wide wheel will hold more than enough rubber you will be able to fit under your wheel well.
get 15x9 with a 5in backspace and some 26x10.5x15 slicks
I think you'll be hard pressed to cram that much tire in the back. I ran that size (I thought they were 10", not 10.5") and peeled off about 3/4" of tread onto the track.
I found the best way to determine at what point the tire scrubs, remove the rear springs and shocks. Then slowly let the car back down until it bottoms out.
oldschool85 01-21-2007, 04:40 AM william wouldn't 4.5" be 0mm offset. Thats what i have on my 17x8's.
I need to know the correct offset before purchasing these centerlines. Its 15x8.5 and Im most likely going to run 275/50/15 drag radials. What do you guys think?

or stiffen it enough tat it wont scrap. my 275/50/15 nittos are wider then that. they have almost a 12in wide tread pattern. i did the burnout and lunched from the box before lining up and had no rub. crankcase vent sparyed oil on the track so didnt get to run, but tires cleared fine. they are on some 15x7 are mesh wheels with 0 offset.

for an 8in wide wheel, 4.5in backspace is 0 offset. for a 9in wide wheel, 5in backspace is 0 offset for a 8.5in wheel you need a 4.75in backspace. but a 5in or 4.5 is prolly all your ll get. to clear the flares better, order them in 5in backspace.
oldschool85 01-21-2007, 01:57 PM so i would be fine with the 15x8.5 with a 5" backspace?
williamb82 01-21-2007, 05:50 PM yeah, should fit fine.
