Hey somwone with connections at SportMax talk to them!

Seems they are willing to venture into the lower price lower offset wheels, and the 962's in the darker gray/anthricite are the sex. An offering of 17"ers say http://www.bigwheels.net/wheels/sportmax/962_gun_large.jpg
17x8 0 offset and 17x9 10-20 offest would be great. Of course with a generous lip front and rear I do belive would be awesome looking on a mkii.

Also for the non-5 spoke fans, they maybe could run the 003 and 006 in proper fitments too.

17"ers I believe are the best size for the car.

Any one else agree?

I agree with you 100%, but I would doubt that they would do them just because the majority of guys running the same size wheels as us would be the AE86 drift crowd, and it seems they lean more towards the old style wheels (sportmax 002's). But i would take a set of those 962's in a 0 offset in a heart beat over the 002's.

O/T: I've got the 002's and I love 'em.

I like the last 2. The first one not so much, they would look good on a muscle car though.

I've emailed Sportmax, and they more or less told me that they build what they build, and I can either buy it or buy something else.

I bought a set of their wheels anyway. I got the staggered 806's in 17X8 and 17X9 in black with a stainless lip with a 35mm offset. No shit, it really is stainless. It's like those old "beauty rings" on cars from the 70's. I think it's a great idea because it won't chip or peel like clear coated machined aluminum. Yes, I'm using spacers, and they should be on the car in a week or so with Yoko ES100s sized 255/40 and 275/40. :)

I apologise to the OP for jacking the thread and posting a ton of pictures, but they've been requested, so here ya go. :)

Here's front back and side of the car with the stock wheels and tires.

Please allow me to yell at you now, because I absofuckinglutly HATE it when people say "you need ____" or "looks nice, but you should have ___." Piss off, OK? It's not your car, and being a noob to this board doesn't mean I don't have my shit squared away.

Look pal, I got the car for $500, spent that much on the seats, and have about a grand into the wheels/ tires/ spacers, so don't rush me. The reason I did it in that order was because the drivers seat was falling apart and a couple of the tires had sidewall bubbles and severe weather checking, and I couldn't justify spending money on OEM sized tires to "get by" 'till I got the real deal. So anyway, unless you want to fork out ~$1500 for my suspension, you're just going to have to wait for it to be lowered like everyone else, including me. And I'm sorry to break your heart, sweet tits, but my psychic abilities foresee an inch or less drop in the future for the sake of retaining the wonderful rear camber curve.

It is high off the ground but even with lowering springs it will still look high, thats why im not a big fan of 17s.
The front and rear looks bad-ass.
Do you have any rubbing issues with the 255s up front?

you also mentionned spacers, but not the thickness.

PS, you could just have said that lowering springs are in your plans, rising your blood pressure like this is not good for your health ;)

I've got 962's on my MkIV...they are a great looking wheel for the price! I'm not the biggest fan of the uni-lug design...but again...the price is tough to beat. My car is the red one

I'm a cheap date since I don't drink. Save a Coca Cola for me. I may have to venture out there for the new race track.

No rubbing at all. The spacers are 35mm in the rear and 30mm up front (wheels have 35mm offset).

James, Millers Motorsports Park is an absolutly fantastic track. I haven't driven the road course, but I've seen it and done some seat time on a 125cc Tonykart on their kart track, which is also an outstanding track. :)

Don't take this the wrong way (I hate sentences that start like this....lol), I ask/mention because I am looking into similar wheel sizes. I think the height looks great with the stockers, but it looks a bit high on the 17's...for me. What springs are in the car in your set up. I have the Eibach Prokits and if I go with the wheels with sizing like yours, I'd want to lower it more. On the stock wheels it looks lower than my car. Are those ST springs? This may change my mind and I may go with 16's instead of 17's if my car is going to sit that high.....although I swear Daves7MGTE has 16x8's up front and 17x9.5's in the rear and his car seemed lower to me.

:) Thanks. I'm hoping to paint the car soon, I'm really not digging the flat latex white/ metallic plumb. As for the BS talk... I won't criticize or even add my input unless it's asked for, and that's one of my pet peeves. It doesn't scare me away; I'm reactionary in nature- I don't go looking for it, but if it comes to me, it's not stopping there. Anyway... I look forward to sharing more pics and info as I progress with the car. One of the things I actually LIKE about having 17's on the car and the height they give me, is that I have room underneath for some aerodynamic enhancements. And no, I'm not talking about that should-have-been-abortion F1 body kit. :)

Pitulata- right now, OEM, and am still deciding on what to do for aftermarket. With the ammount of rubber the car has, I'm thinking 450 up front and 350 in the rear. The goal with the car is a barely street legal track slam-pig, so ride isn't a major issue for me.

Joe- I'm going to shoot it flat black to see how that looks, and am in the process of procuring some expired flat olive drab paint from the paint shop on base. :)

More or less... I mean, it's hard to be stealth with 17's, a cage, and 13" rotors, but more or less, I'm going for a militantish look. I don't really talk about plans that much, because everyone has plans, but few have actions. Rather than talk about what I want to happen, I'd rather just post pictures of what happened.

So ex- USAF? Where were you, AFSC, yadda? I'm ammo... *mutter*

I think 450 up front is a little soft with the 350 in the rear. The car would be pretty loose on a track. I run 500f/300r and the car is a little loose, which is good for auto-x. My friend runs 440f/200r and his car is soft, but well balanced. I'm sure others that race their cars will chime in with their spring rate biases.
