View Full Version : Opinions on these hayashi perrier wheels

I have a set of Hayashi perrier wheels with the original gold painted mesh. I was going to refinishing them black (only the mesh part, leaving the rim polished), like this:

Then I saw this photo with the mesh painted silver:

So, what you do think I should do, Black or Silver? These will go on either my SDR or my Black 85.

I would go with black mesh on either of your great looking cars.

I vote silver. It's classic and really shows the cool detail of the mesh.

Good point about the mesh showing with a silver color, kinda like the our stock wheels (but on a larger scale of course)...this is the kind of input i"m looking for. ..thanks

how are you going to paint it? I've had good luck with home depot metal lawn furniture spray paint (gun metal). I think gun metal will look good. It is the middle between black and silver :). The can of the spraypaint has a blue tricyle picture on it. I cant remember what brand it was. So my vote is gun metal, then silver, then black.

Black, even though silver looks better. You'll never be able to keep the centers clean enough even with black finish.

I agree that black wins on not showing brake dust/road dirt better than silver

I think gold would really pop on the black car, and could even work with red. Silver would be my second choice. The gunmetal option would hide brake dust better...might be a good choice for a daily driver. For show though, I'd go gold or silver.

Regardless of whatever color you choose, your cars still look AWESOME!!

I've got the Riken meshies and I've had both the gold and the black on the white car and the black gets my vote. Although there was a white car with white mesh wheels that looked really good - must be a PITA to clean though!

I put my black compomotives on the SDR car and drove it around for about a week before deciding that I didn't like the black centers on the SDR. I'm not sure that I would want silver centers on the SDR either but a natural aluminum finish might work. Someone already said gold, but a gold-gold I don't think really works either as it would stick out. I wish I could remember where I saw it but I someone posted pictures of a wheel, not mesh, but had sort of a lighter goldish color that looked annodized rather than painted and I think Eastwood sells some paints that mimic that annodized look. I think that would go well with the SDR whether dull or polished. Of course the black car would look good with just about anything you choose.

I'd go gold...even on my white. Gold would look hot on black. But gold wasn't an option!! haha...

I'd go black over silver.

Powdercoated Silver is my vote.
Why powder? - to stand up to pressure washing...

tell tire shredder to refinish it with his awesome hand :). He can make it shine like a mirror.

Powdercoating is a GREAT option! Good idea! You could still paint them a gold tint like anodized if you mix clear paint and gold, and you have a clean, silver-colored base.

I'm beginning to see the allure of black centers with polished lip though...

Hey socalsupra, that photoshop is a great idea!! I hadn't thought about doing that to the pics I have. I'm gonna try that with the rims painted black for comparison...and put them on my SDR as well. What a time/mind saver...thanks.

I had all intentions in painting my silver centers black but after refinishing them they looked too good. At times they have a goldish tint to them as well like shown here:
