Well Im looking for atleast 2 new front tires in 225/50/16 that will suit a stockish mk2 thats only driven on nice dry summer days with some spirited driving. I remember alot of members were talking about the Falkens but I was leaning more toward the Hankook Ventus R-S2 Z212 or Yokohama AVS ES100.
What do ya guys think the best bang for the buck? (trying to stay under $100 each)

The Falken Azenis 615 has a slight performance advantage over the Hankook, but unless you're racing against a stopwatch, I think the Hankook is a better bargain for a street tire. As far as the Yoko, I've seen some strange wear patterns on cars using those (resulting in tire noise), but can't say for sure, not having owned a set. I would still prefer the Hankooks over the Yokos, though.

i ran the Yokohama AVS ES100 245 45 16 all 4 tires (back when i had 4 16ns).. Grate tire for the price but I blew threw a set in 12k. Thats just hard driving no bernouts and rotated of the rim.

Well I think I will go with the Hankook Ventus R-S2 just because there isnt a single bad review and theres quite a few complaints about the yokos with treadwear and noise. Unless someone chimes in about any of the other cheaper tires i posted in the link I might change my mind. After-all I only drive the car around 1k miles/year and I might upgrade to wider/taller rims in the near future.

The Yokohamas will last longer, the Hankooks will have more grip, which might not even be noticeable if you are not doing something where you are being timed. Those are pretty much the main differentiating factors, both a great tires.

Thanks for the input guys, I ordered a pair of the Hankooks for now. Can't wait to try them out and not have to worry about flying off the road with the crappy dunlops currently on my enkeis.
