View Full Version : SSR Star Magnas
glmomp 07-10-2007, 02:06 PM Hey guys, I'm thinking of buying a set of SSR Star Magnas. The offsets seem alright, but I'm not a wheel expert, and I don't want the wheels to come and find out that they aren't even close to fitting. From the following specs, can you tell me if these will fit? (*NOTE* my car is an L-Type that is lowered 1")
Brand: SSR
Model: STAR MAGNA
Bolt Pattern: 4x114.3
Size: 16"
Width: (F) 7.5J (R) 8J
Offset: (F) 6mm (R) 13mm
TRD 83 SupraDrifter 07-10-2007, 02:23 PM Any picture of these kinda wheels?
Superium 07-10-2007, 02:31 PM I believe they will fit fine, read this thread: http://forums.celicasupra.com/showthread.php?t=20585
I was actually thinking about buying those star magna's myself but I swear the price was $650/bo a month ago.

CJSREDPRA 07-10-2007, 04:49 PM Have to type the numbers out in front of me, based on picturing the 14 x 7" +8mm P-Type wheels mounted on a L-Type (which as we know, is a common upgrade).
Fronts are 16 x 7.5", +6mm offset.
Rears are 16 x 8", +13mm offset.
"My guess" is the fronts will be okay. Rears I'm not sure about. The +13mm offset will be enough to bring the outside of the wheel in, so that it does not stick out past the fender, but will it hit the shocks??? Adding in spacers/adapter will keep it from hitting the shocks (if this is a issue), but then the wheel/tire begins to stick out past the fender opening. This setup would not be a issue on a P-Type, (since a spacer would bring it outward enough so that it looks decent w/ the P-Type flares) but on a L-Type with no flares....
Others???????
Junkie 07-10-2007, 06:14 PM Chris/All .... I have a set of 16x8 +25ish ? " forget actual measurement, but, I know at least +25 " BBS wheels I picked up for drag wheels. They DON'T have any issues on the inner side, and look like I'll be able to run 255/60/16 DR's on the L-type, without rubbing anywhere. Just need to get back to work, so I can afford the tires, to prove it.
Edit --- I also have 17x8 +25's on the rear of the L-type already, but, with the extra 1", you actualy get a tad bit more clearance in the spring area, because of the spring angle. I also tried the above BBS's on the front of the L, but, they will not fit, tires will rub the strut, unless you run a narrow tire and streeeeeeetch them on the wheels ;)
Deanfun 07-10-2007, 07:47 PM Cam (Canadian psyko) recently put 16x7 0-offset enkei's on the front of my old 82L, and to avoid rubbing he went with a 205/55/16 tire. The wheels do sit pretty car out though... basically flush with the fender. at 7.5inches on your wheels, and a 6mm offset, you're going to have the wheels sticking ~6mm further out than Cams.
glmomp 07-10-2007, 07:48 PM Damn my L-Type. So the fronts would be fine, but the rears could pose a big problem.
Shawn, you said that your L was fine with 16x8s in the rear, but is yours lowered any?

Eibachs and AGX's on all 4 corners. It's dropped at least an inch. I'll have to get more pics to show you, as I can't remember the name, or password, of the PB album I have them in, LOL.

Scroll down a bit, you'll see it. Car is on OE springs, and most likely OE shocks lol.

I saw those some time ago. They don't look too bad. A good cleaning and those should look nice.
rsdeo 07-11-2007, 01:30 PM Rears will fit fine. The fronts on the other hand may stick out too far. Funny thing is both fronts and rears have the same outside spacing.
A better fit would be if the offsets were switched 7.5 +13 and 8 +6.
