has anyone heard of or had any good/bad experience with these tires?...they are cooper cobra radial G/T tires...a tire shop that i went to has these in stock in our stock size of 225 60 14...i was also offered 235 60 14's for the same tire for the same price of around $320 for a set of four...i noticed that the tire has a speed rating of T which is faster than the speed rating of S that i see for the BFG tire that is the same size of 225 60 14...i don't kinow if this is an indiction that the tire is of higher quality or integrity...does anyone have any recommendations or suggestions?

Kind of a cheap tire but I had some on my Supra back in 87. They were not the best but they lasted a long time.
I like the khumo or the Yokahama (sp?) the Yokahama was the best set I have ever had.

I know the set I had were horrible....some peeps here like 'em.....Not only were they lousy at gripping in handling, but I had a whine/hum that I thought was a bad diff.......once I got rid of the tires and replaced them with Yoko's the sound went away.

Mark... your car deserves the Avids

Must admit, I considered the coopers for my car. The price difference between them and the avid st's was minimal at best, considering the st's lasted 3+ years and still plenty to go...lotsa tread, but i'm also a pretty conservative driver

they are great for an daily driver, ive had them for a while now, and my brother had a set on the car before it was mine...no they probably arent race quality but theyve handled everything i have thrown at them, and the white letters look good on a freshly washed car with wetblack tires

They were on my car when I purchased it. I was not impressed. They suck in the wet. They're pretty hard rubber because the set on my car never seemed to wear out. When I got my rims, I switched to modern rubber and haven't looked back. The difference was amazing. I wouldn't recommend buying Cooper Cobras.

Very shitty tires in the wet! Absolutely no grip even during light rain! I agree that the Kumhos are quite good. I have them on my own car, and the steering feels so much more direct and slightly lighter. Much better grip both in the wet and dry as well too!

Although a higher speed rating generally indicates less sidewall flex even at lower speeds and therefore better handling, the difference between S and T speed rating isn't much. IMO the Yoko's are better tires. You should be able to get a set of either tire cheaper than $320 if you are willing to shop online and then take the tires to a shop and negotiate mounting and balancing separately.

IMO I would go with a set of BFG's over a set of Cooper Cobras any day of the week. Iv had a set before, I didnt like them at all.

just my .02 cents

I've gone through a few sets of the cobras they arn't all that bad for the price. A littler harder compound and some what slick in the wet but at least pridictable. Lasted way longer than my sumitomos (although the sumotimos were much sticker...) cant seem to get the sumitomos anymore...

I'm going to check my supplier

Well it looks like I can't get the coopers anymore either suppliers says their discontuinued too... bummer

will

I was informed by the Tire Rack that the Yokohama Avid ST 225 60 R14 has been discontinued.:sadsmilie

I had the avids for 2 years. They're a really nice tire. However, I regret not just buying 15s and some decent high performance all seasons earlier. I switched to 15s and falken ze-512s just yesterday and the difference over the avids was eye watering.

I've had a set for about 17,000 miles. They've done well so far. I will agree that they are a little slick in the rain. But unless you're going around hairpin curves in a hurricane you would be fine. It really depends on what you're planning on doing.
High spirited driving / Aggressive daily driver = Yokohama
General transportation / Highway miles = Cooper Cobras

Yokohama lists a 235/60R14 on their website. Isn't this close to the same size for a P-Type with flares?
