CJSREDPRA 04-30-2004, 03:27 AM Dorky question...
Can we get more info on the car in question??? Or is this still too early??? Am guessing it's the Silver car in the pics???
For now, my brain is saying sell the wheels seperately (I have not voted in the poll yet), but I need to see the bigger picture, so to speak.....
(edit)... Oh yeah, am I reading the information correctly in the last picture??? 15x7.5", +4mm offset??? Just checking...
(edit2)... Dave, I'm thinking this is now the correct offset. I just noticed the picture of the "other" wheels.. 15x9" w/ a -2mm offset.... Am betting that's what the numbers are...
Daves2JZGTE 04-30-2004, 03:38 AM its a bit soon to say much about the car this much i can say its a 85 silver hard top black gray interionr P type that will be in stock form with 139k on it with all new gaskest on the motor. (in the prosses right now) I need to sell it for X $ that i know i can get but i was thinking if i offerd to throw the rims in with the car if it got to X dollars then id kill 2 birds with one stone.
As for the +4 your gess is as good as mine. Id think so but dont know how SSR duse theyer codes.
Dave
super7 04-30-2004, 03:52 AM sell it to me for 500 bucks..
CJSREDPRA 04-30-2004, 03:59 AM Dave,
See my first posting, I made another edit.
Also, what are the tire sizes on all 4???? The tires on the 9"s look a little narrow.
Daves2JZGTE 04-30-2004, 04:05 AM 205 55 15 frunt
225 50 15 rear
I think the tires are a bit small my self but they work

Super7 try adding $200 to that and ill think about it.
Dave
Honestly the reason why I am saying $500 is because I am thinking very long and hard on the ROH Synper going for 660, brand new, 17s.....500 seems like a good deal to me...but if you can get more for the wheels, more power to you...I would do the same too..
SupraFiend 04-30-2004, 12:31 PM damn, damn, damn! :banghead:
Man, I would so buy these off you but they're just barely not what I need. I've been looking for a pair of 15x8 0 to +15 offset SSR Formula mesh for months! And I'd happily buy a whole set to get them. Unfortuantly both these pairs are neither, but sooo close.
Those are formula mesh and the sizes that have been listed are correct. From what I've paid for other ssrs I've purchased and what I've seen them going for I'd say they are worth around 600 to 700 us for the set. But if you really want, put them on ebay and they might go for a bit more, maybe 8 or 900 (though thats not what they're worth).
And for the record, using James Razor's ROH gb price as a basis for calculating a set of rims value is a bad idea, because that 650us for all 4 is an insane price. You'd have trouble getting nice (nice, as in well made and light) 16s for a civic new for that price. Old school wheels are often in a league of their own when it comes to valuing them, but they're still always way cheaper then new custom rims.
Thats an awesome set of wheels there Dave, 15s on a mk2 rock. Slightly odd width selections on this set though, but very workable. A set of 245/50-15 dunlops on the rear with 225/50-15s on the front would work perfectly on these wheels.
super7 04-30-2004, 03:22 PM Some people think it's worth 3 cents, some people thinks they're worth $800, and others their life savings. It's worth what Dave wants it to be worth, and the buyers is willing to pay for them.
Donald Trump would be a hunderd-aire if he paid everything he bought for what they're worth.
Dave, if you can't find a buyer, you got $500 bucks here waiting. Just let me know, and I'll drive there to pick them up. Just say the words... :D
Malloy 04-30-2004, 03:50 PM You are possibly the only person Ive ever heard say this :) Must be that Corolla association or something ;)
15s on a mk2 rock.
SupraFiend 04-30-2004, 04:55 PM maybe, but I`m very happy with 15s on mild performance orientated mk2s. 15x8 that is. 245s are a little overkill imo for the car (unless you`ve gone all out turbo), and I don`t like the way they fit on 8 inch rims and going wider then 8 is expensive and hard to fit on the front of a mk2. The only good 225 size in 16 inch is 225 50-16 and thats much taller then stock. 245 45 16s are pretty decent and have good prices and selection, but I prefer a 225 and 225 50-15 tires are a bit cheaper and have a better competition tire selection. Also they`re shorter then the stock diameter which I like for a couple reasons. One it drops the car`s center of gravity a bit more, and two, you get an accurate speedo if you run them with a 4.1 diff. Which considering how hard it is to find non clunking 4.3s, makes the 4.1s pretty attractive as they`re usually found behind an auto tranny. I also like old school wheels and they`re much easier to find in 15s. I think the car looks just fine with 15s and 50 series tires.
See I have my reasons. :)
Malloy 04-30-2004, 05:12 PM Whats wrong with this? 245 front. 255 rear.

No euro stretch? ;) (I used EURO to break balls of course)
I don`t like the way they fit on 8 inch rims

Ok I have to edit because of Malloy's comment  : "I partially agree with that notion."
SupraFiend 05-01-2004, 02:06 AM Whats wrong with this? 245 front. 255 rear.
Thats a bad angle to judge by, and its just the front wheel we'd be looking at. Also I was refereing to how 15 inch 245s fit on an 8 inch wheel, not 245s on a 17 inch wheel. I just looked up the specs for the two sizes, and the same model of tire had a 9.1 inch tread width in 245/50-15 and a 8.8 in 245/45-17 and 16.
You can see the differences well in this pick here...

thats the 245/50-15 on an 8 inch wheel in the front, and a 225/50-15 on an 8 inch wheel in the rear. I love how the 225 fits. And thats why I have my current wheel delema. The rims I have to match the rears for the front are only 7s, and a 225 just looks stupid on them, especially sticks out with the 8 inch rim with the perfect fitment on the rear. If anyone knows of a pair or more of 15x8 forumula mesh SSR with 0 to +15 offset let me know please :(.
Oh, and my little speach on the benefits of 15s, I didn't touch on the performance side of smaller rims at all. But I shouldn't have to, thats common knowledge.
Malloy 05-01-2004, 02:52 AM Then why are you looking for 17" Forgelines?
Yup...I have the same notion :D

Malloy, Malloy, Malloy, we can't be riding on 15s forever now can we. Currently I like the fact that 15s have cheaper tires. But it's time for a change, change is good right... :D
Anyway I doubt I'll find any used forgelines 17s, but I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Until then, I'm mighty happy with 15s.
