i can't find sh*t as far as rims go for this car. and anything i like is too expensive for this collage student. so since i kinda look the looks of the stock rims i'm just gonna keep em. i was thinking about putting some 50 series tires on them for better handling. the back will be 245's and the front will be 225's. i'm just wondering if thats gonna look kinda weird cuz the tires will bolge out a little bit. do you guys think this would be a good set up?

a couple of those rims are all right, but i can't find any of the dimensions or anything for em. it doesn't say their offset and bolt pattern.

Those are all fwd offset wheels. You suggesting spacers or something arch?

they probably won't even fit with spacers. i tryed some fwd rims with a 40mm offset and it would have taken a half inch spacer so the tire didn't rub in the strut. but with a half inch spacer, you'd need longer wheel studs and i haven't found any long enough. i don't think its worth the effort anymore to find afteramarket rims for this car unless you wanna pay over 2500 for wheels and tires.

well, you missed the ROH group buy... under 700 bucks US for 17"s...

if you wanna be super picky about styles, yes, you will have to pay a lot, but if your willing to buy what comes your way, ive seen a few sets of wheels that i could have bought for less than 1500 canadian$

post a wanted ad in the wanted forum and see what comes up, im sure after this group buy some people will probably be selling the wheels theyve replaced ;)
also, check the datsun Z car boards and any local Zcar clubs.

there are wheels out there, just gotta look harder.

Those koseis come in a 17mm offset which would get you pretty close, plus they are lighter than the stock rims which is GOOOD!!!!!!

hey, thanks for the pic jamie. gave me an idea to how she'd look. i'm still trying to find some 17's and see what the other possiblities are. i'll most likely go with the 245/50's on stock though.

As Wes stated low ish offset 17mm and decent price.

yotaboy, I meant wheel adapters.

Wes, where did you find those specs? Tirerack is useless for having wheel size info! From what I can tell you can only get those K1s in rwd offset in 15x7 through them. Great for a corolla gts but you'd need 10mm spacers just to get stock offsets and widths for a mk2 supra. Nice weight though. Actually that wheel is the same as a buddy club p1, the p1 is the jdm version of the wheel. I know a guy who has a pair of p1s in 15x8 +12 offset for sale right now, but I'm guessing you couldn't get any of the buddy club sizes through tirerack.

Speaking of I'd be suprised if those wheels with a 225/50-15 would be any lighter at all then the stock wheels with original rubber. I went on a wheel weighing rampage last night as I was switching alot of wheels, heres what I came up with...

Stock rim with an original worn (10 to 15 percent tread left) 225/60-14 Dunlop: 35 pounds (stock rim is just barely 16 pounds)

15x7 SSR Forumla Mesh with worn 205/60-15: 35 pounds

15x7 Compomotive mesh with worn 225/50-15: 38 pounds (rim is only 13 pounds!)

15x6.5 SSR Formula Mesh with almost new 205/55-15: 36 pounds

15x8 Hayshi 5spoke with almost new 245/50-15s: 40 pounds

Kinda suprising. The 15x6.5 SSR is my new spare tire. I chose it because the rim was about 14 pounds and it was a way smaller tire then the stock 225/60-14s. Thought I could save some weight, but instead I added a pound! Oh well, it looks better, leaves more room in the hatch area and is the same diameter as a 225/50-15.

I guess the lesson to be learned here is that its pretty much impossible to end up with a lighter wheel tire combo then the stock setup on a mk2 without going to a skinnier tire. Those old 225/60-14s don't seem to have much rubber in the sidewalls, I'm guessing thats where all the weight is saved. My 225/50-15 Firestones have crazy stiff sidewalls (every tire guy that mounts them tells me so ). That size of tire is shorter and has less volume then a 225/60-14 yet by my calculations it weighs 6 pounds more!

Arch: might want to mention what wheels your refering to when you post a link like that, only 2 of the 30 some wheels on those pages were fitable (my new word for the day), we confuse easy around here :)

Go 5 bolt and get a set of Starion rims. Yes the 5 bolt conversion is a little costly, but I bought two sets of Starion rims, 16x7 and 16x8, for $200/set plus shipping. Total conversion and wheels works out to be less than a set of custom rims.

Once the coversion is complete Starion wheels will be easier to find and are plentiful. Also they are available in 16x8 and 16x9 sets.

or you can pick up some centerlines as you can see in my signature or go with wheel adaptors from technotoytuning.com i think it is and go with a 4-5bolt pattern so there is more options to choose from.

Also if you look around enough there use to be 245/50/14's that Firestone made in the Indy 500 series tires.

That offset is OK, it'll work. That's the offset of the ROHs.

BTW you're not going to gain anything stiffness wise if you go down to 50 series but get a wider tire. This is counterproductive. You'll get a big sloppy sidewall.

I just put some 205/60-14 Yoko AVE ES100's on my stock p-type rims and let me tell you, disspite eatting 30mm per tire there is a night and day difference from the Dunlops I had on there before. These tires rock, and the are a bit shorter so it's a bit lower and pulls a bit harder from the final gear changing effect ( help my auto out big time ). I would highly recomend them solong as you dont mind your speedo off a bit and eatting a few mpg. These tires are god like.

Oh yee of little faith.

Meanwhile getting back on the subject at hand. There fewer and fewer wheels remaining out there for the budget conscious. Centerlines being one of them.

I've givin up on new rims this year too!...The 7m project has become way to expensive 4 me to contemplate any other projects this year.

Hopefully something will come along for a steal....nahhh I'm not that lucky.

Yea I'm trying to find them and no place with size specs and prices.
I have a flare-less GT Celica and 17 offset would be great in the front on my car and back maybe a really skinny spacer would do the trick. Any links out there throw them our way, thank you :)
