Hello all,
I am intrigued about the recent post about the wheel adaptors for $180 for the set. If someone were to purchase the adaptors for a mk2, what would be needed to make these work? I am curious as to what effect it will have on the car? I am interested in putting the wheels on a non modded garage queen strictly for looks and a bit of performance. I need to know about offset and such as to know what type of wheel to consider if this is possible. I have found great deals on wheels with the 4x100 as well as the 5x114.3 lug pattern and the offsets range from +12 to +50. Any insight as to maximum width and actual wheel size(15,16 or 17s etc) is greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance.

p.s. I am not very good with computers as I would have put a link to the thread I am talking about, but don't know how.

Good quality adapters should be fine for street and autox use. I believe this company makes quality stuff, but they may be a bit slow on the service. Easy to verify availability with them prior to sending money though. Make sure the adapter has a center bore that will clear our center hubs (60.1mm). Ideally, the adapter is hubcentric, meaning like our stock wheels, the center hole of the adapter fits snugly on our center hub. I would prefer the adapter to convert to the 5x114.3 lug pattern, it's also a Toyota common pattern, but if you have a good deal on other 5 lug pattern, thats ok too. Seems 5 lug would be stronger, just my guess. You want to end up with a net of 0-10mm offset with the adapter and whatever wheels you get. So if the wheel deal is for 40mm offset wheels, and the adapters are 30mm thick, then your wheels will have a net of 10mm offset to the hub. I would prefer closer to a net of zero offset. If you are looking at 17 inch wheels, tires in a 245/40-17 is pretty good size I think. Some discussion on appropriate tire sizes on the group buy thread by James. Whether you go with 16" or 17" wheels, at least 7.5 to 8 inches wide would be good. 7" wide is a bit narrow if you want to use wider than 225mm tires. There are well known companies like H&R that produce similar adapters, so the concept is feasible.
