Please forgive me if this is a repost, but I could not find it in the archives. Can I use adapters safely with a high HP engine (300+HP)?

Can I use adapters safely with a high HP engine (300+HP)? 85SUPRA 05-25-2004, 01:11 AM And how much would a set of simmons FR17's be?? 17x8/9's in front, can I put 17x10's in the rear without it looking completely idiotic? I would rather go this route, but fear it will be prohibitivly expensive. williamb82 05-25-2004, 05:19 PM depends on the adaptors. you should be fine, however, dont race with adaptors on the back. mount some stock wheels or something back there if your gonna drag race. as for the simmons, get in touch with supragtr. i beleive he is the one that ordered the ones for malloy. oldschool85 05-25-2004, 05:21 PM hmm why shouldnt we drag race with them on anyways? cheappower does it. charlie williamb82 05-25-2004, 10:29 PM he does? well, 4 studs holding an adaptor that has 4 studs holding a hweel. i wouldnt trust it for drag racing. then again i plan on running slicks. Donn29 05-25-2004, 11:19 PM i think william means 'I wouldNT trust it for...' 85SUPRA 05-25-2004, 11:47 PM well, if I ever took it to the drags, with slicks, I would use the stock rims. what I am concerned about is ripping them (the adapters) to shreads due to too much HP. I have a couple rims in mind, but I want to know that adapters can handle it before I drop 1-2g's williamb82 05-26-2004, 05:32 PM depends on how much hp and what kinda of tires. some tires grip better then others, and therefore will put more stress on the adaptors. ive seen v8 converted 240z's running adaptors without any problems. just for me, i wont try it. dont need a wheel flying off cause i hit the gas to race someone. |
