Got a question about 2pc rims I picked up some ssr mk II's 15x7 this weekend the centers need to be bead blasted and repowder coated I wanted to know if there is anything special I should know before taking them apart thanks Jason

I'm not familiar with that wheel, but if they are really only two-piece, and not three, then this should be no problem. Because tires can put an uneven load across the wheel, it is recommended that tires be dismounted before the center section is removed since this provides the bulk of the wheel's support.

Be sure to mount the center section as before (in front of, or behind the hoop mounts) to maintain offset.

If 3-piece, then you'll need to reseal the joint in the hoops once reassembled... which means you'll need to carefully clean the mounting surfaces and remove old sealant.

Good luck, and take some pics before and after. That always gets the crowd oooing :]

Regards,

Jimi

they should be like my ssr formulas, welded 2 piece wheels. Taking them apart is pretty easy, but it would be a good idea to mark the centers to the lips so you know exactly where they were mounted. And when you reinstall the center, use a torque wrench to tighten all the bolts and do it in a criss cross patteren. ie tighten the first bolt, then the one directly across the wheel from it, then one 90 degrees away then the one across from that one, then one 45 degreess away, etc etc. This will insure the center torques down evenly. Look up the torque specs on those bolts somewhere, it will be something like 15 lbs/ft

Wow, those wheels are awesome! I love 4 spoke wheels, especially with 4 lugs. A nice symetrical, balanced design.
