View Full Version : got me a 16in spare. williamb82 09-07-2004, 02:35 PM http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7919450610&rd=1&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWA%3AIT SupraFiend 09-07-2004, 04:59 PM using this with your enkies? Nice score, really hard size to find those in. You can still buy them in 16s, but its pretty rare to find any used in that size. Your spare is going to be nicer then the wheels on your car :P williamb82 09-07-2004, 05:17 PM it wont be nicer in my opinion. it looks like a 15in center or even possible a 14in center with 16in hoops. itll work though. i was going to stick a 15x7 enkei 92 in the trunk for a spare but this will be better. it may not clear the bbk but if it doesnt ill just stick it on the back and put a rear rim on the front so ill be able to drive somewhere to fix the flat or replace the tire etc... honestly, id like so ssr reverse mesh wheels. they have bigger centers and a flat lip. regardless this was a lucky find. im surprised no one else bidded on it. :-D mine now. hehehe. williamb82 09-17-2004, 02:17 PM well, i got it in the mail today. its a 16x7 with 4.5in backspacing. it is a 15in centersection though, wont clear the bbk im sure so ill have to stick it on the back and a back tire on the front for front flats once the bbk is in place. oh well. william StanS 09-17-2004, 05:58 PM How often do you get a flat? Rarely? then have the car towed and get rid of spare, jack, and lug wrench. Save bout 55 lb. 85TurboMKII 09-17-2004, 07:00 PM belive me, weight is not much of a concern to william he has like a 100lb speaker box in the back of his car that makes his ST's sag lol dogstar 09-17-2004, 09:11 PM stan, i get a flat often enough that if im on the highway, i have no interest in waiting 3-5 hours for a truck to show up... you only need to do that once in a canadian winter to realize the importance of spare tires. if you dont freeze to death, lol Funkycheeze 09-17-2004, 10:53 PM some of us dont drive our mk2s in the winter... im gonna ditch the spare and tools - i have had one flat in the last 6 years, and that was out at mclean creek (i slashed my jeep's tire wide open on the end of a culvert) dogstar 09-18-2004, 01:05 AM im not driving the silver car in the winter, but the black pig will be driven. and even if you dont drive in the winter, so... who wants to sit by the roadside for hours at a time? personally, my time IS worth something, even if only to me. Donn29 09-18-2004, 08:37 AM plus its gotta be there for a saftey inspection. dont know why ud need to but oh well. oh and what if some pretty lady on the side of the road lost her Jack but you come along?..... williamb82 09-19-2004, 11:29 PM well, the speaker box doesnt weigh 100lbs, but between the box, the amps, and my tool boxes its safe to say im not worried about the spare or scissor jack.lol. btw, who wants to pay $75+ for a tow cause you got a flat. screw that. i know i can get AAA but they only tow 3 times a year and id rather save those for incase i bust any more driveline parts at the track, not for a flat that'll take ~10-15min to change. william canadian_psyko 09-20-2004, 03:59 AM So far, I have yet to get a flat... Just onder 5 years of driving the way I do, and no flats... pretty weird.... but oh well.... Cam williamb82 09-20-2004, 02:29 PM ive had 3. 1 from hitting the curb avoiding a dog in the rain(split the sidewall) and the other 2 from screw/nail etc.... id rather be safe then sorry, plus, without the speaker boxes, spare, etc..., i have no traction, all the tires do is spin. ive tried it at the track. william |
