Is This Turbo Electric?

Or am I just seeing things? My guess would be that it's belt driven and that's why they're calling it a supercharger.

no, this supercharger works, so its definetly not electric. i was looking at some superchargers mounted the same as that today at the car show here, so i would say belt driven.

So I take it that it's just a huge front mounted Paxton or Vortech supercharger?

from what I can see, It is a centrifical supercharger...prolly the biggest one I have ever seen. Looks like it is driven by a 3 inch cog belt from the backside. I have never seen one like this until now. Im impressed. I have no idea what the displacement it would have to be if that was to be a turbo. 5000 cid for some reason comes to mind. Rediculously large engine for a rediculously large turbo. Definatly not a turbo, bro.

Wow, that was one heck of a holeshot! :-) Some serious torque combined with superb traction. Judging by the revs at the launch, my guess would be that he was running a pretty tall rear gear and a high stall converter w/o the typical sloppy rev limiter that you see nowadays. Things would've gotten very ugly if the car hadn't stayed straight. Kudos to the driver!

Was he drag racing...or looking at the clouds? That was one helluva wheel stand. Im guessing he was doing just that...the wheelie competition. My clue is he has a wheelie bar that dosent work and his front end is still intact when he comes back down. A 1/4 mile car coming down like that will just explode the front end.
